Before choosing

FAQ.
Answers without shortcuts.

A clear guide to distinguish protection, comfort, market and commercial communication.

Rules and symbols

What is the difference between S1PS, S3S and S7S?
They are classifications with different sets of requirements. The choice is not based on a “higher” number, but on real risks: presence of water, drilling, slipping, thermal conditions and other requirements. REFTHE will always report the complete classification declared by the manufacturer.
Does ESD mean the shoe is electrically insulated?
No. An ESD shoe is designed for controlled dissipation of electrostatic charges; should not be confused with an insulating shoe for electrical works. For the latter, specific requirements, procedures and risk assessment are required.
Can I use an ASTM, JIS or JSAA certified shoe in Europe?
It should not be taken for granted. American or Japanese standards can be technically valid in their respective markets, but for a PPE entered and used in the EU, requirements, marking, declaration and instructions are required. For this reason extra-EU products are indicated as Global Discovery until the European dossier is complete.
What is the European legal reference?
The overall picture of PPE is the Regulation (EU) 2016/425. The operational choice remains linked to the assessment of workplace risks.

Choice and fit

Is a safety sneaker less protective than a boot?
Not necessarily. The visual form does not replace the classification. A boot can offer useful support and coverage in some environments; a low fit can be lighter and suitable for others. First requirements and environment, then preference.
How do I choose the size when buying online?
Measure both feet at the end of the day, compare the manufacturer's table and consider socks and plantar used at work. For foreign brands do not rely on the single numerical conversion: shape and width can change.
Which shoe is better for cold rooms and environments?
Information on temperature, duration of exposure, humidity, floor and work is required. The CI acronym can be relevant, but alone does not describe all the real thermal comfort.

Reviews and method

Are visible reviews real?
The cards are document analysis: they do not report customer evaluations or field tests carried out by REFTHE. The manufacturer’s data are distinct from personal experience.
How will a product enter the Top 10?
With a public matrix: compliance, consistency with use, fit, comfort, durability, service, availability and value for money. The commercial commission will remain separated from the editorial score.

Purchase and affiliates

REFTHE sells shoes directly?
In the affiliated phase, payment is made on the dealer's website. The internal selection is used to compare the models; is not yet an order or a checkout.
Does the price increase using an affiliate link?
Normally not: any commission is recognized by the merchant. Each tracked link will be clearly indicated and close to the call to action.
Is the newsletter already active?
No. This section does not collect entries. You can store models in the local selection and consult sources when you need them.
